General Information

The Pardon Crucifix, the Miraculous medal and the Saint Benedict medal are approved “Sacramentals” of the Catholic Church. The Church teaches that the reverent use of sacramentals such as these prepares people to receive God’s grace.

 The Pardon Crucifix

Used  with the practice of pious devotions a plenary indulgence may be gained as declared by Pope St. Pius X in 1905. It was further approved in the pardon of the living and the souls in Purgatory in 1907:

 Conditions of the Indulgence:

Whoever carries on his person the Pardon Crucifix, may thereby gain an indulgence.

- For devoutly kissing the Crucifix, an indulgence is gained.

- Whoever says one of the following prayers before this crucifix may gain each time an indulgence: “Our Father who art in heaven, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” “I beg the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray to the Lord our God for me.”

- Whoever, habitually devout to this Crucifix, and  fulfills the necessary conditions of Confession and Holy Communion, may gain a Plenary Indulgence  on the following feasts:

The Five Wounds of our Lord.  The Invention of the Holy Cross, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Immaculate Conception, and the Seven Dolour’s of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

- Whoever at the moment of death, fortified with the Sacraments of the Church, or contrite of heart, in the supposition of being unable to receive them, will kiss this Crucifix and ask pardon of God for his sins, and pardon his neighbour, will gain a Plenary Indulgence.

The Saint Benedict Medal

This medal is one of the oldest used by Catholics. It is also known as the "devil-chasing medal.  The medal is used to ward off spiritual and physical dangers, especially those related to evil, poison, and temptation. It is a sacramental that may be legitimately blessed by a Priest or Deacon. The medal is a prayer of exorcism against Satan, a prayer for strength in times of temptation and a prayer for peace. It is a prayer that The Cross of Christ be our light and guide and a rejection of all that is evil.

The Miraculous Medal

The design and production of this medal was initiated by Saint Catherine Labouré following apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rue du Bac, Paris, in 1830. In these apparitions, Our Lady promised many Graces to those who used the medal.

The medal comprises of many symbols of Our Blessed Mother poring grace and protection on the world. The burning hearts of Jesus and Mary on the reverse symbolise their burning love for all people.
