Joan of Arc is a patron saint of France, honored as a defender of the French nation for her role in the siege of Orléans and her insistence on the coronation of Charles VII of France during the Hundred Years' War.
Joan of Arc was given armorial bearings by Charles VII on June 2 , 1429, which he was reported to have drawn himself. The design as depicted in the design contains two fleur-de-lis "in a field azure" (meaning on a French royal blue background) with a sword between them supporting a crown. The fleur-de-lis symbolizes many things, including French royalty and culture, purity, light & virtue.
